Behind the scenes on our recent shoot:
When putting together this room, we wanted to select items that highlight the light and airy architecture of the space while grounding a gathering space around the main focal point- the fireplace.
Let's take a look behind the scenes at how we prepped for this shoot.
We wanted to highlight the fireplace, the natural focal point and anchor of the room while creating a balanced furniture grouping that fit the scale of the space. The Mellow Sofa is modular, so it is a great, customizable option for rooms large and small. The sofa's structure creates a visual and physical border for the room but resists feeling heavy because of the light fabric.
The Vail lounge chairs balance the seating space, playing with symmetry without being completely symmetrical. The scale of the chairs complements the larger sectional, and the airy frame balances the structured frame of the sofa.
The light finishes throughout the home contrast beautifully with the dark woven rug and rich brown stone of the coffee table. These darker elements help ground the room, making everything feel settled with a sophisticated contrast against the upholstery of the sofa and chairs. The coffee table is accessible to all guests as they sit comfortably in this space, and the stone top is the perfect durable and low-maintenance option for everyday use.
The simple color palette highlights textures and mixed modern materials to create a rich, textured, yet minimal look. We focused on luxurious fabrics and classic silhouettes to create a timeless feel. Keeping a subtle palette allowed us to play with highlighting textures and patterns, adding a sophisticated depth to what initially seemed like a simple room setting.
