How it works

One frame, many covers. Here’s the swap.

Every Vail cover unzips from the cushion and the frame in minutes. Wash the washables, wipe the leather, or swap materials by season — no tools, no upholsterer.

  2. Unzip

    For each of the 2 cover compartments, unzip along the tailored seam. Remove the inner back and seat cushions from the cover pockets. No tools required.

  3. Re-Cover

    With the fresh cover, insert each back and seat cushion onto the zippered pockets, and zip it closed. Slide each of the 5 back straps on the back and seat through the straps. Snap straps at the bottom. Done.

Will these covers fit my existing Vail chair?

Yes. Every cover in this collection is cut to the original pattern of the Vail Lounge, Rocker, and Ottoman we ship, so if your frame came from Denver Modern, the cover will fit. Zipper closures and tailored seams keep the silhouette clean, whether you're refreshing for indoors or rotating for the season.

Which covers are safe to use outdoors?

Start with the Outdoor tab. Covers in FIQA Woven, FIQA Bouclé, and Sunbrella® performance fabrics are made for covered patios, sunrooms, and poolside living. Indoor covers — velvet, corduroy, fleece, bouclé, linen, and leather — are meant to stay inside. The indoor or outdoor rating is also shown on each product page.

Wherever a cover lives outside, a covered or shaded position will meaningfully extend the life of the fabric.

How do I clean fabric covers?

Velvet, corduroy, fleece, bouclé, linen, and Himalaya: Spot-clean with a mild soap solution and a soft white cloth. Blot rather than rub. For heavier soiling, we recommend professional dry cleaning. Covers are removable for easier access, but we don't recommend machine washing due to shrinkage risk.

FIQA Woven and FIQA Bouclé: Rinse with cool water. For stains, mix a mild soap into lukewarm water, apply with a soft brush, rinse thoroughly, and air-dry out of direct sun. Skip bleach and solvent cleaners unless the fabric maker specifically calls for them.

Sunbrella® performance fabrics: Brush off loose dirt, then clean with a mild soap and lukewarm water solution, rinse thoroughly, and air-dry. Follow Sunbrella's published care guide for stubborn stains.

How do I clean leather covers?

Our leather covers are aniline-finished — no plastic top coat — so the hide breathes and develops character over time. Dust monthly with a dry, soft cloth. For light soiling, use a barely damp cloth and a gentle circular motion. Every 6 to 12 months, condition with a pH-neutral leather cream.

Avoid saddle soap, alcohol-based cleaners, and prolonged direct sunlight. Small scratches and a developing patina are part of natural leather's character, not a defect.

What are your lead times?

Lead time depends on the fabric and whether that cover is stocked or made to order, so you'll see the accurate shipping window on each product page before checkout.

What is your return policy on covers?

Covers may be returned within 30 days of delivery in their original packaging; returns must be postmarked within that window. Original shipping charges aren't refunded, and return shipping is deducted from the refund.

Custom-made and customized items can't be refunded once the order is placed, and anything purchased at more than 25% off during a promotional sale is final sale — this includes clearance covers in this collection.

If a cover arrives damaged or defective, email [email protected] and we'll make it right. Delivery fees are refundable for manufacturer defects and transit damage.

Yes. Approved Trade members receive preferred pricing across Denver Modern designs and partner brands, with pricing that scales on larger project volumes and no order minimums — one cover or fifty, the same trade pricing applies.

Yes. Build a kit of up to five complimentary swatches and compare them in your own space first. The swatches are free; you pay only a small flat-rate FedEx shipping charge, and kits typically arrive within 3–7 business days.
