Product Details

The Alma Swivel Counter Stool combines European café stools references with a smooth swivel mechanism at the kitchen island. Light, upright, unpretentious, the swivel underneath makes it a natural workhorse for how modern kitchens actually live: turn to the conversation or turn to the counter.

The cane back is a first-class material moment. Woven by hand, it catches light differently through the day and softens the visual weight of the stool without sacrificing structure. Paired with either a natural white oak or walnut frame — the kind of piece that gets noticed by guests right away. Upholstered in several options of a richly patterned tapestry, flax linen or Chestnut brown leather and a round Aged Brass footrest, the Alma is quietly distinctive.

Built with a returning swivel mechanism. Sized for standard counter heights. Companions the Alma Dining Chair for coordinated kitchen-and-dining builds.

Materials

The Alma Swivel Counter Stool is offered in four upholstery options on a solid hardwood frame, each with a hand-woven cane back — selected for hand, durability, and how they age.

Flax Linen
• A performance linen from Valdese Weavers in a warm oatmeal, with visible warp and weft and honest tonal variation.
• The look of linen you'd inherit, with the behavior of linen you'd actually choose.
• The material that reads most clearly as "from the earth" — at home in rooms leaning into stone, plaster, and pale wood.

Chestnut Leather
• A pure aniline leather integrating pioneering tanning techniques to amplify its natural tactile qualities.
• Exquisitely soft and supple with a striking matte finish.
• Produced at a tannery in Northern Italy with seven generations of refined artisanry experience.
• Full-grain, so it deepens and softens with years of use rather than peeling or cracking.

Indigo Forest
• A millefleurs-inspired tapestry of stags, hares, and stylized trees in deep indigo.
• Storybook and sophisticated at once — pattern and color confidence held inside the Alma's quiet frame.
• Woven in North Carolina. For the kitchen that wants one moment of romance without redecorating around it.

Au Lait Stripe
• A plush cut-velvet café stripe in cream-on-cream.
• Classic on the eye, built for daily life underneath.
• Woven in North Carolina.

Cane Back
• Hand-woven cane over a solid hardwood frame — a first-class material moment, consistent across all four upholsteries.
• Woven by hand, so it catches light differently through the day and softens the visual weight of the stool without sacrificing structure.
• A tightly woven, structurally engineered back panel, not a decorative overlay.
• Slight variation from stool to stool is characteristic of hand weaving.

Frame and construction
• Solid hardwood frame in Walnut or White Oak.
• A round Aged Brass footrest — warm, low-shine, designed to mellow with time rather than tarnish.
• Felt-tipped leveling feet.

Care & Assembly

Product Care
Flax Linen
• A damp cloth handles most spills — blot rather than rub to protect the weave.
• Vacuum regularly with a furniture nozzle on low suction.
• Work outward from the edge of a spot to avoid leaving a ring.
• Avoid bleach and strong solvents.
• Performance-grade rather than decorative linen: it develops a softer, more lived-in hand over time rather than degrading. Natural tonal variation is characteristic of the fiber.

Chestnut Leather
• Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
• For light cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth with warm water and mild dish soap, then dry promptly.
• Blot spills immediately; don't rub or saturate the hide.
• Minor scratches can often be reduced by gently rubbing with a soft cloth or finger.
• Avoid leather cleaners and conditioners, which can alter the matte finish.
• Aniline leather is uncorrected, so tone, grain, and natural markings vary and deepen into a patina with use.

Indigo Forest and Au Lait Stripe
• Vacuum regularly with a furniture nozzle; on Au Lait Stripe, work with the direction of the pile.
• Blot spills immediately and spot clean with a water-based upholstery cleaner.
• Avoid strong cleaning agents, solvents, and bleach.
• On Au Lait Stripe, brush the pile in one direction once dry to restore the nap.
• Do not tumble dry or iron.

Cane Back
• Dust with a dry, soft brush or vacuum on low suction with a brush attachment; work along the weave rather than across it.
• Wipe with a barely damp cloth if needed, then dry immediately — standing moisture can loosen the weave.
• Avoid soaking, oils, and silicone polishes.
• Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from heat vents, which dry the cane and make it brittle.
• Do not lean or press on the cane panel; it is engineered as a back, not a handhold.

Walnut or White Oak Frame
• Gently dust with a dry microfiber cloth.
• For stubborn spots, lightly dampen the cloth, wipe clean, then dry promptly.
• Wipe up standing liquid right away — kitchen settings expose wood to more moisture than most rooms.
• Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive materials, and excessive moisture to preserve the finish.
• Keep out of direct sunlight; both species shift tone with prolonged UV exposure.

Aged Brass Footrest
• Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. If needed, use a lightly damp cloth and dry immediately.
• Aged Brass is a treated finish, not raw brass — it maintains its warm, mellow appearance without the typical tarnishing cycle.
• Do not use metal polishes or abrasive cleaners. The slight mellowing that occurs over time is intended.

Swivel & Everyday Care
• The swivel mechanism is commercial-grade and sealed; it requires no lubrication.
• Lift rather than drag when moving the stool to protect both the joinery and your floors.
• Felt-tipped leveling feet are standard; replace them if they wear.
